Electronic Cigarette Review

I just got my annual benefits enrollment letter from my employer and I notice they are now offering tobacco free incentives. This was listed right at the top of “A few important things to keep in mind for Annual Enrollment this year.” Here is a quote from the letter:

New Tobacco Free Incentives: Incentives are being introduced for being tobacco free. As part of the enrollment process, if you state that you have not used tobacco products for at least 12 months, you’ll qualify for discounted rates on Group Universal Live insurance and receive a one-time $50 cash incentive (minus taxes) in your paycheck in January.

Naturally my first question is can this be achieved by smoking electronic cigarettes? They have no tobacco in them just some tobacco flavoring, nicotine and water basically. I was starting to think that smoking only electronic cigarettes might qualify people for this incentive and then I realized that really the only way they could test this would be by looking for nicotine. I searched the web to see if I could find out if any other employers are offering this and found this link:http://www.in.gov/spd/2473.htm.

The page belongs to the Indiana State Personnel Dept. which has even better incentives and states, “… all state employees may be subject to testing for nicotine.”I am still optimistic that electronic cigarettes can help people to get these incentives but I want to know if anyone could post a comment stating whether or not their employers offer incentives for becoming tobacco free?

No one will deny that there are huge social aspects when it comes to smoking even when we are talking about electronic cigarettes and cigars. In fact most people will probably tell you they started smoking because all their friends were doing it at the time or that they wanted to look cool. When my older brother brought his NJoy electronic cigarette to the family reunion a few months ago everyone wanted to try it and it wasn’t long before everyone wanted one of their own!

Tonight my fiancee (been engaged for about 3 weeks now) asked me why I am looking at buying electronic cigarettes and cigars. She asked me this because she doesn’t really think I smoke. The fact is that I took up smoking cigars almost 5 years ago now, but I just smoke them very very rarely and never around her. In fact I only smoke cigars when I am with other friends and family that also smoke.

One day when I came home from college when I was about 19 I remember being fairly shocked to find my brother at home with my parents smoking around the kitchen table! Since then I have been the only person in my immediate family who doesn’t smoke regularly and felt somewhat alienated for many years. I felt the pull to start smoking but was absolutely opposed to it because of the health implications. I stared smoking cigars probably about 6 years after that because I had a few drinks and won about $400 at a limited stakes casino. I found it somewhat enjoyable and wasn’t too concerned about my health since i smoked them so infrequently.

As another example of the social draw of smoking the last time I felt inclined to smoke was at a BBQ a while back when someone started passing around a hookah. I figured I would give it a try and it was my best smoking experience ever. I could take long draws on the peach flavored tobacco in the hookah and the nicotine content seemed low enough that the high I got from it was pleasant and not nauseating. We passed the hookah around in a circle having great conversation, joking and laughing.

So I am hoping that when I get my NJoy electronic cigarettes that this will be a way to increase the feeling of social inclusion around other smokers especially my family.

Wouldn’t you know it that as soon as I narrowed my search of e cig brands down and decided to buy the NJoy brand, they go complicate my decision again and release their new mini electronic cigarette called NPRO!

I have been very busy in the past month with no time left to work on my new blog. I had decided that I was going to buy NJoy’s Cigarette Style right after I did my own research on all the other brands out there and put up this blog.

Now that I have gotten back around to working on the blog again I thought I would go order my cigarette style e cigarette so I will have more to write about. This is when I noticed not only the addition of the NPRO to the product line, but also it seems they now sell assortment flavor cartridges separate from the starter kits.

They still only offer menthol and regular for the cigar so I will still need to go with the “Cigarette Style” or the “NPro” mini electronic cigarette style to get strawberry and apple which are likely to be my favorite flavors.

Everyone else in my family has the cigarette style so I wanted to be different and get the cigar style because I am a cigar smoker anyway, but like I said the flavors are limited with the cigar style.

So, if anyone has bought NJoy’s new mini electronic cigarette could you please comment and let me know what you think the advantages are other than size?
